“We have today returned from our very first trip to Northumberland, where we stayed in the Farne Lookout.”

We honestly couldn’t be happier, we have enjoyed our stay so much that we have already booked for next new year. We arrived late so it was dark on arrival and the directions take you to the rear of the property, unfortunately the keysafe is at the front of the property so we had to find our way around the other side in the dark, but once we got the keys and got inside, we were immediately impressed. The welcome pack was a lovely touch and very much appreciated after our long drive. The kitchen is very well equipped, the only thing missing that we would’ve used is pint glasses, but this wasn’t a major issue. The living area is very homely, lots of seating to enable everyone to appreciate the spectacular views and lovely decor with the stone wall feature. The balcony overlooking the harbour was a wonderful place to sit with a cup of tea in the mornings, listening to the waves and watching the world go by. The master bedroom also with spectacular views, was very comfortable and plenty of storage space. The quirky “Captain” and “first mate” seats were a lovely touch. The bed was incredibly comfortable! The en-suite was spacious and clean. We did have an issue with a loose spotlight fitting but reported this and a couple of other issues straight away. The floor with the other bedrooms on also had lovely views out to sea from one bedroom and the landing area, the other two bedrooms overlooked the below ground yard which unfortunately was littered with pigeon faeces and quite smelly if the windows were opened, along with the smelly things making noise through the night, however, this is no fault of the owner, there’s not much that can be done about the pesky pigeons! There is netting erected but they seem to have managed to get beneath it, and the neighbours have taken no action so their side is very dirty. The bathroom on this floor is spacious and clean, however with glass block wall provides little privacy, so a teenage girl sharing the bathroom with her male brothers didn’t feel very comfortable using it, so opted to use our en-suite instead. The lower ground floor where the games room & utility room are was very cold. The pictures showed a plug in radiator, however this wasn’t there when we arrived so we had to make sure the doors were closed in the evenings to prevent the cold spreading throughout the house. However, we did totally underestimate the oil heating, and had to turn the thermostats down on the upper floors as it got incredibly hot before we did this. The utility room was very well equipped and as a family with 4 children - was very well used throughout our stay! The games room was a massive hit with the teenagers, although we did have to report a few issues with the snooker table (loose pockets, stains and broken cues). The cues weren’t an issue as they took their own. The firework display on NYE was spectacular. We have visited Disneyworld Florida and all of us said the seahouses display blinded Florida! It was absolutely amazing. All in all, we have thoroughly enjoyed our stay and have already booked again for new year 24/25. We look forward to visiting again.
